Israel Warns Hariri's Gov't against "Legitimizing" Resistance!

Hussein Assi

Once again, the Israeli enemy interferes in the Lebanese internal affairs, seeking this time to influence the cabinet's "formers" and inform them of the Israeli "standards" for the Lebanese cabinet!

Indeed, for the second time in less than one week, Israeli Prime Minister decided to interfere in the Lebanese cabinet formation process, warning against including Hezbollah in the cabinet, threatening of holding the whole government responsible of any Resistance act.

Lebanese were preoccupied with analyzing the advantages and inconvenients of a visit to Damascus by the Prime Minister-Designate MP Saad Hariri when the Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu found a "golden opportunity" to renew his flagrant interference in the cabinet formation process, going on to reject any attempt to "legitimize" the Resistance…

"The government of Lebanon is making preparations to legitimize Hezbollah," Netanyahu claimed Sunday in reference to consultations to form a new unity government, "and that will not happen without them facing the consequences."

"The government in Beirut is a sovereign entity, and any attack launched from Lebanese territory is by the government and at its approval," Netanyahu warned at the weekly cabinet meeting, according to Israeli Army Radio.

Israeli Defense Minister Ehud Barak expressed support to Netanyahu's remarks. "Israel believes that the Lebanese government and all Lebanon will be held responsible of all the cabinet's decisions," he claimed.

The Israeli stances came the same day Israeli daily Haaretz reported that Saudi Arabia and the United States are pressing Syria to demarcate its border with Lebanon, in order to allow for the beginning of an Israeli withdrawal from the occupied Shebaa Farms area.
